Joseph "Gator" Scott Andrews, beloved husband, father, uncle, and friend, passed away on Thursday September 25, 2025, at the age of 67. He was born in Jacksonville, FL, June 13, 1957, to Joseph E. and Virginia Andrews.
Joe proudly served in the USAF from 1977–1997. Throughout his military career he was stationed in Fort Walton, FL; Kunsan, South Korea; Turkey; and Hahn AF Base, Germany, where he worked as a Propulsion Technician. He was stationed at Hill AF Base, Utah for the last nine years of his career, where he was a Courseware Development Technician, developing computer-based training for the F-15 and F-16 aircraft. After 20 years of dedicated service, he retired in 1997.
In 1991, Joe met Melanie, his best friend and love of his life. They were married on August 20, 1994. After Joe retired from the USAF, he landed a job at FedEx Express in Memphis, TN. Joe and Melanie built their first home in Collierville, TN in 1998 and started their family in 2000. Joe was always ready for a road trip, going to Yuma, AZ for Christmas; Utah to visit friends and family; Florida for Gator football, family visits, beach, and Daytona; Alabama for the beach; Middle Tennessee for bowling tournaments; East Tennessee to visit with friends; and Hot Springs, Arkansas for weekend trips, water/amusement park, miniature golf, and relaxing. He loved making memories with family and friends. Joe loved being a youth bowling coach while his kids were in the youth bowling league.
During Joe's 27 year career at FedEx Express, he developed training for Station ONE management, tractor trailer/straight trucks, and TRAMS. One of the most important things he valued during his career were the relationships and friendships he made with his coworkers, who were more like family. Joe retired from FedEx Express on June 1, 2025. He was excited to start working on family history, projects around the house, spending time with his family, and planning vacations.
Joe loved his family! He was immensely proud of the adults his children had become and looked forward to the futures they were building. His greatest happiness came from seeing his family enjoy life, and he made sure their lives were filled with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Family and friends will remember Joe for his humor, easy-going nature, kindness, quick-wit, and love of his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Melanie Andrew and his daughter, Kylee Andrews. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Mardee Jo Andrews; son, Brodie Andrews; father, Joseph Andrews; and mother, Virginia Soules Andrews.
A graveside service will take place at Pioneer Cemetery in Salina, UT, Saturday, October 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM MT. Graveside services will be streamed via Zoom for those wishing to attend virtually.
