Joseph Wendell Armiger Sr. passed away on May 19, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his children. Joe was born to Thomas Edward Armiger Sr. and Margie Lee Joseph Armiger on September 12, 1958, in Newark, Delaware.
He worked construction for many years, retiring from Spacecon as a foreman in 2013. He was very honored to receive Foreman of the Year in 2002. He also worked at Melvins Auto Repair and Amazon.
Joe was a house manager at The Serenity Place in Dover in the early 2000s. He celebrated at least 25 years of sobriety. He lived by the Serenity Prayer, accepting what he could not change and having the courage to change what he could. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, no matter how big or small. Joe enjoyed Nascar races, watching his favorite football team, the Ravens, spending time with his family, and watching Hallmark Christmas Movies with his dog Lucy. You would always find him cheering his grandchildren on at their games and cooking dinner for the family.
He was survived by his five children, Brandy Willson (Robert), Joseph Armiger Jr. both of Dover, DE, Tiffany Truman of Lebanon, KY, and their mother, Rhonda Pepe of Lebanon, KY; Raven Armiger, Kestrel McCliment, and their mother, Beth Armiger, all of Dover, DE; eight Grandchildren, Kylie McGraw (Nathan), Mack Truman, Chase Armiger, Elijah Armiger, Joseph Armiger III, Lilyana Truman, Lukas Willson, and Coltyn Wilson; his siblings Thomas Armiger Jr. (Vangie), Cheryl Woodbury (Philip), April Majewski (Michael); and many nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sr. and Margie Armiger, his grandparents, Edwin and Rachel Armiger and Roland and Beatrice Joseph, and his beloved dog Lucy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Delaware Hospice and/or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements will be made available at a later date.
