Mr. Joseph Benjamin Baugher was born July 27, 1946, in Decatur, Alabama to Edgar and Pauline Baugher and grew up in Decatur.
Joe joined the service and served his country honorably. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him a purple heart and bronze medal. He served as an Aircraft Maintenance Single Engine-Single Rotor Helicopter Mechanic. He left the service with a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Joe passed away on June 11, 2024 at home.
Joe is survived by his wife, Diane Baugher; daughter, Kelly Baugher along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Edgar and Pauline Baugher, his brother, Wayne, and his first wife and daughter, Sandra and Tracy Baugher.
He lived in Decatur, AL for much of his life until he moved to Andalusia in 2009. He retired as a Systems Technician with Charter Cable in Decatur and enjoyed his many years of retirement of which 15 years were spent in Andalusia.
He loved family, music and animals. Any kind of music would do but he had a special place in his heart for big band music. He loved his three dogs like children and he will be sorely missed by his beloved dogs as well as his family and friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday, June 19th at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Josh Wilson officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Wednesday the 19th.
