Philip Donald Baugher Jr., age 74, of Michigan City, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Philip is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Baugher (nee Iwan); daughter, Kate (Adam) Peffers; and granddaughter, Nora Peffers.
Philip was preceded in death by his father, Philip D Baugher Sr.; and his mother, Garnet (William) Coar; sisters: Linda Rosenski and Melanie Turner; his in-laws: Walter and Dolores Iwan of Chesterton.
Philip served his country in the Marines during the Vietnam War. He received an undergraduate degree from Purdue University - North Central Campus and a Masters in Library Science thru Indiana University - Bloomington. Philip was hired directly out of school as the Director of Libraries for Westchester Public Library where he remained the Director for 37 years. He often joked with Board Members that in all his time at the Library he never was granted a promotion. He loved boating, reading, his cats and music. The Grateful Dead and Jason Isbell being his longtime favorites. Philip was an active member of Rotary (Chesterton Porter) and the Duneland Chamber of Commerce. Philip will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Philip requested cremation with his ashes to be taken to several of his favorite locations. There will be no services at this time with a Celebration of Life to be possibly held at a later date. Services are entrusted to Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre.
