Joseph Benovich, age 78, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025 following an extended illness. Joseph was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 1, 1947 to the late Mr and Mrs. John and Elizabeth (Buynak) Benovich.
Joseph was an English teacher and football coach for thirty years at John Hay Highschool in Cleveland, Ohio. He enjoyed reading and being surrounded by his friends and family. Joseph moved to Hiawassee, Georgia about ten years ago and loved being in the mountains and on Lake Chatuge.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Benovich and Elizabeth Buynak Benovich; sister Gail Palinkas, Jane Benovich. He is survived by brother Douglas Benovich; sister Gwen and Greg Dickerhoof; brother-in-law, Bob Palinkas; nieces, Amy Harmon, Michael Broestl, Lisa Palinkas and Sarah Palinkas; nephew, Michael Broestl; great nephews and niece, Evan, Abby and John Broestl.
