One story I remember fondly still makes me smile to this day. We were riding in Uncle Babe´s van, just coming from the grocery store, when he pulled out a package of bacon-raw bacon. With a grin, he told us that you could eat raw bacon because it was smoked. Of course, being little kids who looked up to him, we didn´t hesitate. There we were, sitting in his van, happily chewing on strips of raw bacon like it was the best snack in the world.

As we pulled out onto the road, right across the street was a Chuck E. Cheese. Uncle Babe, who sometimes had a bit of a stutter, tried to say "Chuck E. Cheese" but just couldn´t quite get it out. It came out in such a jumbled, funny way that we all burst into laughter and started mimicking him, turning it into a moment of pure silliness. That was nearly 50 years ago, yet we still recall it like it happened yesterday. It´s one of those memories that never fades, always bringing a smile and a laugh.

Thank you, Uncle Babe, for your time, your patience, and the knowledge you passed on to us. You didn´t just teach us how to work-you helped us become men. While I may mourn your passing I will be celebrating your life much, much more.
