Joseph Anthony Borkowski

Joseph A. Borkowski, 69, of Flushing, Michigan, passed away on November 21, 2025. He was born on March 6, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan.
Joe was born and raised in Detroit and spent more than 30 years working as an industrial electrician. He originally retired from GM/Delphi but "failed at retirement" and returned to work at Nexteer. He was a proud union member, known for his quick wit, love of pranks, and his gift for making people laugh. He never met a stranger; everyone was his best friend, and he was famous for giving big hugs to anyone who needed one. He loved pierogies, golfing, and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Karla Borkowski; his children, Leah Johnson, Meagan Borkowski-Craig, Susanne Borkowski, Scott Swiatkowski, and his sister Kimmy; his sisters, Margret Atwood and Mona Lee Scott; his "soul brother," Ed Belchunas and Ed's wife, Lisa; and his beloved nieces, Ashley Atwood and Monica Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Darcus Borkowski.
In lieu of flowers, for the man who was always cold, the family asks that you donate a new winter coat or warm clothing items to your local clothing closet, or bring a coat to the service, where coats for kids will be collected in Joe's honor.
A celebration of Joe's life will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2025 at Rossell Funeral Home. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow the service at Flushing Moose Lodge, 7044 Elms Rd, Flushing, MI 48433, until 5 p.m.
