Borkowski, 102, of Boynton Beach, Florida, peacefully returned to the waiting arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 22, 2025, with family and caregivers by his side. Leo's life began in a small town called New Britain, Connecticut, where he was born and resided until he and his wife, Irene, of 67 years, moved to their lifelong home in Newington, CT. It wasn't until he was in his 90's that he decided to call Florida his home. He was an active member of the VFW, American Legion, Plumbing and Pipefitters Union, Polish American Club, Boys Scouts of America and the Naval Reserves. Golfing and Skiing were some of his pastimes along with Cribbage, Pinochle, and Setback, which he enjoyed up until recent days.
He is survived by Larry Borkowski (and daughter in law Debra), Marsha Brennan( with husband Dave), Joanne Apruzzese (and Jim her husband); his grandchildren Chris Borkowski, Tammy Truiolo, Adam Brennan, Ashley Mroszcyk, Michael and Douglas Borkowski, Ray and Colin Apruzzese: great grandchildren Christopher and Ali Borkowski, Anthony Truiolo, Willow and Wren Mroszcyk.
Leo's funeral will begin at Scobee-Combs-Bowden, located in Boynton Beach, Fl. with calling hours on Friday November 28, from 9:30-10:30 am, followed by an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Mark Catholic Church, also in Boynton Beach. Burial will be at a later date in Connecticut at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial Donations in Leo's Name can be directed to the "Tunnel to Towers foundation" at t2t.org Leo was particularly fond of helping his fellow veterans.
