Joseph W. Bucceri, 84, of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, after a long battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).
Joseph was born in South Boston and attended Boston Latin School and UMass Amherst. Upon graduation, Joseph enlisted in the USA Air Force, where he worked as a Radar Input Countermeasure Officer. After his service, he worked at Raytheon as an electrical engineer until his retirement.
Joseph was an extraordinarily generous man. For years, he sponsored children at St. Jude's Hospital and donated to any charity that asked for his help. He loved football, and coached Pop-Warner and Little League Baseball teams. Joe was affectionately nicknamed the Grill Master, and he loved sharing his creations with his family. Joe was a skilled woodcrafter and handyman. He collected classic car models, pieced together puzzles, and walked the streets of the neighborhood where he raised his family. He loved pasta, ice-cream, and every conceivable dessert!
In his later years, Joe was an active participant at the Chelmsford Senior Center. He adored riding the bus, joking with the chef, and singing with the wonderful friends he met there. Joe was strong, kind, reliable, quiet, loyal, appreciative, and humble. He adored his family and showered them with warm hugs and big smiles.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Michelle Bucceri Hawes, his son Mark and wife, Julie (Welch) Bucceri; his son-in-law, William Roach; his granddaughters, Jordan, Paige, and Olivia Roach, and Riana Bucceri; his great grandson Brady; his brother William Bucceri and his spouse, Patti (Carelli); and his sister Betty Delisle, and her spouse, Richard. Joseph will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Anne (Viviani) Bucceri, his daughter, Tracy Bucceri Roach, and his parents, Joseph and Rose Bucceri.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 4 – 7 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 27, at 11 am at St. Mary's Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. A private burial with military honors will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in Joseph's name to Chelmsford Adult Social Day Program, 75 Groton Rd., North Chelmsford, MA 01863 or the American Red Cross of Northeast MA, PO Box 55919, Boston, MA 02205-5919.

We are so sad to hear of Joe´s passing. What a remarkable man. I remember him always smiling and laughing, just like his dad. As a young teen, I remember going to Joe and Anne´s wedding. It was the first wedding a remember attending. I was mesmerized by the love Joe and Anne had for each other and how beautiful they both looked. Every time I saw them, they showed that same love and affection for each other. A truly remarkable couple.
