Joseph Burgess Obituary

Joseph Lee Burgess, beloved son of Michelle Holmes Burgess Percival (Steve) and J. L "Butch" Burgess IV, passed his beautiful spirit on to the Lord on March 21, 2025. Sadly, he wasn't able to tame the beast that chased him for years. He was born in Coy, Arkansas on December 19th, 1987.
Joseph was an adventurous, fun-loving spirit, never shying away from the next opportunity to explore and try new things. He was always quick with a handshake or a hug and was instantly likeable. His sense of humor and engaging smile always captured any room he was in. He had a kind and caring soul and was the epitome of a southern gentleman.
He attended Little Rock Christian Academy and spent countless hours with friends in the outdoors and always looked forward to taking full advantage of duck and deer hunting season.
During his IT career, no one was better or more diligent in solving intricate and complex IT system challenges. He was known wherever he worked as the expert IT "fix it guy," whether it be an entire system upgrade or defeating the evil nature of ransomware (without paying a cent). He never gave up until the job was done and considered it a personal victory when he was able to do what no one else could.
Joseph is survived by his mother Michelle (Steve), and his father Butch, his grandmother Gloria Burgess, his siblings Dylan Burgess, Jake Burgess, Maggie Burgess and Matthew Percival, and his stepmother, Lisa Jacobs Moriconi and many other family members who loved him dearly. Joseph's two nephews, Bodhi and Wolfe Burgess, were the apples of his eye and they truly adored their Uncle Broseph. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Julian Lee Burgess III and his grandmother, Victoria Lain Holmes.
A memorial gathering to honor Joseph's life will be held on Saturday, March 29th at 2pm at Rob Bell Plantation, 11627 Rob Bell Road in Scott, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Wolfe Street Foundation, 1015 S. Louisiana St., Little Rock, AR 72202.
Rest well, our dearest Joseph. You were loved in life and will forever be missed. We look forward to seeing you again in Heaven. Services under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com

I am so sorry to hear about Joseph. I remember him well and can even hear the scuffle of his boots coming into the art room with a broad smile on his face.
He was always cracking jokes and getting me and the rest of the class to laugh. I´ll always remember his one phrase to me when teaching art terminology -"Miss Parker I´m abstract random".
So very sorry for your loss. I grieve with you as I´m sure all of Joseph´s other teachers do.
