Roger was my first Red Cross boss and gave me more than enough rope to hang myself a lot of the time. Working for Roger was never dull and when "his sergeants" (his disaster staff) would call him, it was always "what did you do now"? My first interaction with Roger was my interview while I was on vacation at Disney. We did my final interview with me standing against a building, ear plugged, the Disney band playing the Mickey Mouse Club song as the parade went by and Roger just laughed unphased.
Roger was dedicated to the ARC, citizens of Arkansas, and especially to the staff he managed.Roger taught me a lot of good and some not so great lessons, but I knew he always had my back.
Roger was always was ready to talk about Mrs. Jamie, the kids, the grandkids, the greats, Disney, helicopters, singing at the church, football, or anything else outside of work. Even after he retired and even after I left the RC, he would call or message me to keep in touch.
Colonel I will miss you and will see you in the sky! Rest easy and thank you for all of your service. Prayers for the whole family.
