Joseph A. Busolt Sr.

A SPECIAL & LEGENDARY LIFE ~
Joseph Anthony Busolt was born in Mahopac, NY on December 24, 1950 to George J. Busolt, an electrician, and Anne (Muller) Busolt, a homemaker and Sunday school teacher for St. John's Church for twenty-five years. He is one of four siblings. They grew up in Whaley Lake, enjoying summers at the lake swimming and taking yearly trips to Vermont for vacation.
He graduated from Pawling High School, class of 1969. An ambitious and astute teenager, he worked several jobs; a truck driver for Heinchon Dairy, a yard manager for Lloyd Lumber Company, and helped his father with the electrical business. His passion helped him secure his first vehicle, a 1966 Chevelle Supersport.
After graduation, he worked full time as a yard manager, then warehouse manager, and eventually Director of Purchasing for Lloyd Lumber Company in Brewster, NY. for thirty-five years.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing cards at Pops, golfing, and taxidermy. He was also a member of the Pawling Fish and Game Association. Around the year 2000, he started classic car restorations.
On September 14, 1974, he married Dolly Valhos, who is the love of his life. They started their life together in Holmes, NY, then eventually moved to Pawling. They have four children, Tina Bascone (James), Christie Zaborski (Peter), Joseph Busolt, Jr. (Marilyn), and Lisa Reda (Alexander).
In the 1980's he built his own lumberyard in Brewster, NY, Major Building Supplies and eventually added two more locations in LaGrange and Poughkeepsie. Eventually he sold his business and worked independently as a contractor. He designed and built his own home in 1981.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dolly, his four children, and ten beautiful grandchildren, who are a true reflection of who he is; Giovana, Jimmy, and Ryan Bascone, Ava and Nina Zaborski, Joseph III, Colton, and Maximus Busolt, and Alexander and Arielle Reda. He also has two surviving brothers, George and Anthony. He is predeceased by his brother Francis and son in law Alexander Reda.
Calling hours will be at Full Gospel Center in LaGrangeville, NY, on Thursday, February 8 from 9-11 following a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. A family and friends celebration will follow at The Pirate Canoe Club, Route 9, Poughkeepsie, NY.
