Joe Calvert, a cherished member of the Virginia Beach, VA community, went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 3, 2024. He was an esteemed elder of Open Door Chapel, known for his unwavering dedication to his family and friends, as well as his remarkable career of 38-years as a Virginia Beach police officer. His service also extended to the United States Air Force, reflecting his lifelong dedication to his country and community. Additionally, Joe was a respected member of the Desert Road Hunt Club since the early 1970s.
Born on April 17, 1947, in Gillespie, IL, Joe was the son of the late Joseph Calvert Sr. and Bettie Gentry. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Calvert. He is survived by his two sons, Brian (Lorra) Calvert Sr., and Sean (Toni) Calvert both of Virginia Beach, VA and daughter Michele (Daniel) Calvert-Nicole of Williamsburg, VA. It was an honor to have worked and served with Joe as an officer with VBPD. He was truly an officer and a genteman and treated everyone in the Virginia Beach community with P.R.I.D.E.
