Joseph Mario Casmus, 99, passed away on July 8, 2025. Born on May 19, 1926 in Pittston, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (DiVergilis) Casmus.
He graduated from Erie Technical Institute in Buffalo, NY with an associate degree in Mechanical Drafting and Mechanical Engineering. He spent most of his professional career at Birdsboro Corporation as a Purchasing Expediter. Joseph was a devoted member of St. Ignatius Loyola Church - often volunteering his time whenever able. He was also an avid bowler, and a member of a senior bowling league, where he made many friends.
Joseph's memory will be cherished by his sons: Joseph W. Casmus (Ruth), David Casmus(Socorro), and Robert Casmus(Teresa); his grandchildren: Joseph R. Casmus (Erin); Joseph F. Casmus, Nicholas Casmus, Elizabeth Miller (Jeffrey); and Will Casmus; his great grandchildren: Abigail Miller, Hunter Miller, Luke Borze, and Stephen Borze; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He joins in Heaven, his brothers, Anthony Casamassa, and William Casmus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyal Church, 2600 St Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19609, with interment to follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Family and friends may gather from 9:30 a.m. until the beginning of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph's honor to St. Ignatius at the address above.
