COSHOCTON – Jospeh H. Chaney, Sr., 80, died Monday, January 5, 2026 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.
He was born Feb. 18, 1945 in Coshocton to the late William Thomas and Lillian Louise (Brown) Chaney. He married Barbara Jane (Lanham) Chaney on Sept. 19, 1964, who preceded him in death June 9, 2022. He served in the US Army National Guard, and retired from the former G.E. of Coshocton.
Joe attended Gospel Hill Ministry for 20+ years. He was a skilled handyman who loved working on his cars or anything else that needed his attention He loved all of his grandkids and enjoyed any chance to spend time with them.
He is survived by a son, Joe Chaney (Gayla Miller) of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Canda (Jay) Tarman of Coshocton; grandchildren, Dustin Langley, Brody Langley, Brittany Williamson, Danielle Chaney, and Brandon Chaney; great grandchildren, Zaynn Langley, Kohen Williamson, Harper Langley, Ariya Marie Jane Langley, and Karter Frederick Williamson; a brother, Arthur Dwayne (Vicky) Chaney of Coshocton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Ed, Bob, Harold, Richard, Tom, James, and Franklin Chaney; and two sisters, Mary & Helen Smith.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2026 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Sandy Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery, Warsaw, with military rites performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard. Visitation is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8th at the funeral home, as well as prior to service time on Friday.
