Joseph "Joe" Cichan, age 75, of Taylorsville returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Norton Audubon Hospital. He was born on May 22, 1948, in Kulpmont, PA to the late Joseph L. Cichan Sr. and Vivian Fisher Cichan.
He was a retired chef and a Navy veteran. Joe was a naturalist and volunteered at Bernheim Forest. He loved hiking and was known as the "Frog Man". He loved being a great artist, taking photographs and making things.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren doing things such as sledding, building snowmen, being outdoors and teaching them to bake. He was an excellent chef making his famous spaghetti sauce and gravy. He was also an employee and volunteer for Old Mill Elementary School and their WATCH D.O.G.S Program, where the students called him "Mr. Joe". He always enjoyed his Friday breakfasts with Austin and was always a supporter to his grandchildren's sport teams, never missing a game.
He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Vivian and brother, Michael Cichan.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Nancy Wilkes Cichan; children, Jennifer Leigh Parker (Mike) and Matthew Joseph Cichan; grandchildren, Carly Parker, Jake Parker and Tessa Parker; siblings, Christine Cichan, Pamela Renner and William Cichan; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 12:00pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home-Mt. Washington (Hwy 44E @ 123 Winning Colors Drive) with cremation to follow. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 1:00pm until 8:00pm and Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 10:00am until the service time at the funeral home.
