John Z. Shields, Jr, 83, of Fairdale passed away August 8, 2025. He was a former employee of Four Star Aluminum, an avid horseman and Dallas Cowboys fan.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Anthony Shields, Sr. and John Joseph Shields; daughter, Kimberly Shields; parents, Mary and John Z. Shields, Sr. ; grandson, Anthony Shields, Jr. ; sister and brother-in-law , Melba and Robert Bush, Sr..

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marcia Lynne (Clark) Shields ; daughter, Penney Santiago (Ray); grandchildren, J.T. Woodruff (Stephanie) , Clinton Woodruff (Stephanie) , Gretchen Santiago (Joe) , Justin Shields, Jessica Shields, Braden Shields, Ryan Shields, Savannah Yates, Daniel Swartz (Tori) and Justise Burns ; great grandchildren, Ethan Hawthorne (Nicole), Brianna Hawthorne, Braden Woodruff, Scarlette Pitts, Lillian Pitts, Elijah Tufts, Samuel Campbell, Bradley Woodruff and Paisley Shields; great great grandchildren, Atlas and Malachi ; nieces and nephews, Robin Bush, Robert Bush, Jr. (Christy), Natasha Bush, Robert Bush, III, Michael Bush Bush, Matthew Bush, Quinette Hayes, Eric Hefley, Harley Clark and Sean Clark; extended family, Kacie Caudill (Hunter) and his 2 beloved dogs, Romo and Sugar.

His funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday August 13, 2025 at Schmid Funeral Home in Mt. Washington with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
