Joseph Coull Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hamel-Lydon Chapel & Cremation Service of Massachusetts on Apr. 1, 2025.
Coull Jr., Joseph L. age 80, of Weymouth, MA, formerly of Quincy, MA, passed away on March 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. Joe is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy (Curley) Coull of Weymouth, MA formerly of Quincy and Dorchester, MA.
He was a dedicated father of Frank Coull and Deb (Colantonio) Coull of Weymouth, MA, Patty Coull and Josh Majorowski of Rockland, MA and Michelle (Coull) Oliver and Ryan Oliver of Bridgewater, MA.
He was the son of the late Joseph L. Coull Sr. and Katherine (Fufari) Coull. Joe was the brother of the late Marie (Coull) Mullen, Kelly (Coull) Pomeroy and the late Matthew Coull. He was known as Papa to his grandchildren, Arianna Mayer, Emersyn Majorowski, Mikey Oliver, Danielle Oliver, and Ry Chandler. Joe was uncle to Kathy Burger and her children Shawn and Kayla, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Joe leaves behind his dogs, Paige and Teddy, as well as many lifelong friends that became his extended family. Joseph was a jack of all trades. He spent many years as a painter/welder at the Fore River Shipyard (General Dynamics) in Quincy, until they closed in 1986. After this, he spent many years painting residential and commercial properties and working on boats with his long time friend Ron Clark.
He went on countless vacations over the years with his family and friends. Joe was always up for a road trip, whether it was to Niagara Falls with the Coraine family, Six flags with the Hennessey and Cady families, or one of the countless drives to Florida to visit family. He shared a love for racing with many different friends over his lifetime, with the most recent group calling themselves, "The Traveling Shit Show." Joseph also loved to keep himself busy, whether it was gardening, working on motors, or tinkering in the yard or garage for hours at a time. Any tool left was sure to be painted and claimed as his own, just ask his son, he'll tell you. Joe was an avid lover of dogs and always had at least one, although most times he had to have 2 or 3 dogs, so they wouldn't be lonely. Joe loved music and enjoyed going to watch Yankee Jack and Marie, Jimmy Peters and The Baha Brothers perform. Despite not being able to swim a stroke, Joe spent many days out on a boat. He enjoyed fishing, clamming and lobstering. The ocean is where he loved to be.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 19, 2025, during the hours of 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm, at the Weymouth Eagles, 1338 Washington Street Weymouth, MA. For online condolences, please visit www.HamelLydon.com.
