Joseph Henry Downing III

Joseph "Jay" Downing, 75, of Gloucester County, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, leaving behind a lifetime of memories cherished by those who knew and loved him. Jay was a man defined by strength, kindness, and quiet determination. Throughout his life, he built lasting relationships and touched many hearts through his work as a district manager for Sysco Hampton Roads. He loved to garden, ski, kayak, and cut wood, but more than anything, he loved his family. He was the proud father of Melissa (John) and Nicole (Joey). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Taylor, Faith, Morgan, Kendall, Jackson, his beloved great-grandchildren, Greyson and Gianna, and his brother and family. He leaves behind a family who will deeply miss his love and devotion but who will carry his memory in their hearts forever. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Hogg Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Bill West. Interment will follow in Windsor Gardens Cemetery.
