Joseph Dunlap Obituary

Joseph A. Dunlap, 87, of Mountainhome, passed away on Sunday afternoon, February 15, 2026 at St. Luke's Hospital-Monroe due to complications of Parkinson's Disease. He was the husband of Barbara (Reisenwitz) Dunlap with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Born on November 15, 1938 in East Stroudsburg, he was one of five children of the late Arthur L. "Shorty" and Anna (Shekmer) Dunlap and was a lifelong resident of Monroe County.

Joe served in the United States Army National Guard and was employed by LeRoy E. Shoesmith & Son for fifty years.

He was a member of the Mountainhome United Methodist Church, Barrett Township Volunteer Fire Company and the Evans-Blitz American Legion Post 922.

Joe enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing guitar.

In addition to his wife, surviving are two daughters, Catherine Olker and husband Edward of Mountainhome, and Peggi-Lynn Harrington of Rodman, NY; four grandchildren, Bradley Smith and wife Caroline, Than Harrington and wife Lucy, Hollis Harrington, Aubrey Reyes and husband Gary; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Smith, Oliver Smith, Riley Harrington and Kennedy Harrington; and several nieces and nephews

There will be no services and private family burial will take place at Keokee Chapel Cemetery in Paradise Valley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to the Barrett Township Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 1, Buck Hill Falls, PA 18323.

Arrangements are under the direction of the William H. Clark Funeral Home in Stroudsburg.
