Joseph A. Durso III, 56, of Alvin, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at his home. Joe was born on October 28, 1968, to Ann and Joseph Durso Jr. and was the oldest of three children. He was a lifelong resident of Alvin.
In his youth, Joe was a skilled calf roper and competed in rodeos across the country, earning the respect of other athletes and the admiration of many. A true testament to his passion for the sport, Joe spent many years heavily involved in the development and operations of the Alvin Youth Livestock Arena Association, where he served as Acting President from 2012 to 2016.
Joe was a self-made man who founded Instrumentation and Electrical Specialist, a successful electrical contracting company that operated in multiple states across the country for over 25 years. His tireless work ethic and commitment to quality made him a trusted name in the industry.
Later in life, Joe fulfilled a lifelong dream of living the ranch life. He spent every moment possible on his ranch in Giddings, Texas. There, his vision and passion for raising cattle and embracing agriculture became a reality.
Joe is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 20 years, Diane Durso; his parents, Ann and Joseph Durso Jr.; sons Joseph A. Durso IV (Kamryn), Ryan Primm (Clair), and daughter Ashton Vallette (Chance); grandchildren Peyton, McKenzie, Bryslynn, Parker, Eli, and Ava; sister Cassie Achille ("Bubba"), and brother Jeffrey Durso (Lauren); as well as nieces and nephews: Shelby, Nick, Carolyn, Claire, and Christopher.
Joe loved God and dedicated his life to caring for his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, respect, and admiration.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas, with funeral services beginning at 7:00 PM.
Joe's final resting place will be in Giddings, Texas, on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alvin Youth Arena Association (AYAA)- a cause that was dear to his heart. Additional information can be found https://aylaarodeo.org/aylaa-donations/
