Joseph Bernard Eaglin, "Uncle Baby," 77, was born June 19, 1947, in Opelousas, Louisiana, to Bernard Eaglin and Henrietta Randle Eaglin. A native of Opelousas, he was a resident of Kinder, Louisiana. He was a member of the United States Marines Corps during the Vietnam War. He retired from Union Pacific after 34 years of service in 2004. He was a member of P.R.D. & G. Alumni, a U.S. Chess club member, and a Pittsburg Steelers fan. Mr. Eaglin departed this life on Monday, July 22, 2024, in his residence, surrounded by his family. He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Andrea Eaglin and Alicia Kelly; son, Joseph Eaglin; one sister, Ruth Granger Comeaux; six grandchildren, Jerrick Kelly, Michel'le Kinchen, Corey Williams, Javier Dunn, Joseph Eaglin, Jaylen Eaglin, and Jordan Eaglin; five great-grandchildren, Kamari Kelly, Jahlil Kelly, Macyee Kinchen, Jacyee Kinchen, and Stormee Warren; good friends, Cathy Green and Derrick Taylor; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Henrietta Randle Eaglin; daughter, Bridgette Caesar; three brothers, Henry J. Granger, Oris Joseph Granger Sr., and Eardis Wilkins; and two sisters, Mary Vivian Granger and Victoria G. Jackson. His visitation will be Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 9 AM, with his funeral at 11 AM at Evergreen Baptist Church at 300 Evergreen Baptist Lane in Dequincy. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery under the direction of James Funeral Home.

When Uncle Baby moved to the Houston area, he would call me and say "Let's go on a road trip." We would always go to Louisiana and his favorite spot...the casino. My favorite times with him were at the trail rides. I will remember how much he loved horses. I will miss him.
