Joseph "Joe" Eggena, 64, of rural Greene, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City.
Joseph Henry Eggena was born December 18, 1960, in Charles City, the son of John and Gertrude (Hayungs) Eggena. He graduated from Greene High School in 1979. On June 15, 1984, he was united in marriage to Julie (Field) Eggena. From this union - three children were born John Eggena, Emily (Eggena) King, and Sarah (Eggena) Flanders.
Joe spent time working at T and M, tiling with the Schaefer Brothers, and was an avid Farmer. He built the farm from the ground up and when farming wasn't enough for him, he decided to open up Eggena Repair; an Ag repair shop right there on the farm. Joe was a jack of all trades - if it was broken, he could fix it. He was self-taught and had a passion for learning and figuring out how things operated and worked.
If Joe wasn't in the fields farming, tilling, picking up rock, or planting you could find him playing down at the woods. Some of his favorite things to do included snowmobiling and four-wheeling and most of all spending time with his family. He enjoyed supporting his kids and grandkids activities and achievements; you could always count on him being mat side, court side, around the track, at the ball diamond or watching them scoring goals.
Living family members include his wife, Julie (Field) Eggena; his three children: John (Jenn) Eggena of Greene, Emily (Kyle) King of Charles City and Sarah (Shawn) Flanders of Cedar Falls; two sisters: Liz Brooks of Charles City and Linda (Mike) Carroll of Parkersburg; 10 grandchildren: Lily, Henry, Loren, Leroy and Ervin Eggena, Natalie and Madalynne King, Nolan Pruisner, Mack and Beau Flanders; mother-in-law, Beverly (Terry) Mathers; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Edward Field; sisters: Judy Eliasen and Ellen Paulus; and brother, James Eggena.
