Joseph R. Ernst, 81, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on January 11, 2024. Born in Juliet, IL, Joseph spent time living in Medford Lakes, NJ before moving to Little Egg Harbor, NJ 30 years ago. Joseph is predeceased by his parents Jack and Dottie Ernst, and his twin brothers Jimmy and Jack.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Susan, daughter Nicole Princiotti and husband Joseph of Tuckerton, NJ, daughter Aubrie Ernst of Moorestown, NJ, daughter Nicole Ernst-Farney and husband Matt of Jay, VT, and grandchildren Alex, Tori, Oliver, and Wyatt. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Pam, Susie, Johnny and Jimmy along with his beloved sister-in-law Ruth Ernst.
Though Joe almost became a guide for a dude ranch out West, ( always wanted to be a cowboy), he spent his life in the classroom. Joe taught math in both Florida and Delaware, but spent decades at Southern Regional School District where he was loved and respected by students and staff. He adored his family and spent hours playing the broom game, hiding M&M’s, and building pillow forts with his daughters and all of his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing in our local waters. Let’s not forget that Joe loved taking his pal, Bodie, to the park every morning where they walked the trails in companionable solitude.
A CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE will be held on Saturday January 20, 2024 from 10am-12pm at Tuckerton United Methodist Church 134 N. Green Street Tuckerton, NJ 08087.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joseph’s memory to St. Jude’s’s Childrens Hospital at www.stjude.org or the ASPCA at ASPCA.org">www.ASPCA.org
