Joseph Fobbe Obituary

He was born on July 3, 1942, in Chatham Township, MN to Clayton and Florence (Doherty) Fobbe and graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1960. He was united in marriage to Joan Hamilton, the love of his life, on October 20, 1962. Joe was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Union #49 for nearly 40 years and enjoyed a long retirement, spending many winters in sunny Arizona where he had a habit of chasing a little white ball outdoors. He and Joan enjoyed golfing together for over 40 years, and they rarely missed watching a major PGA tournament.
He was a staple of the north shore of Maple Lake ("big" Maple) neighborhood for nearly 60 years and loved living retirement on the shores of the lake and enjoying long summer days fishing, four-wheeling, and relaxing. Dad loved the lake life! He also immensely enjoyed coaching his sons and their friends in hockey and baseball and would race home from long, hot days of work during the summer to make baseball practices and games; in the winter he spent countless hours with the other hockey dads making ice late into the evening on the Maple Lake rink.
Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan; his sons Jeff, and wife Shelley (Berglund) of Maple Lake, and Joe, and wife Karen (Wurm) of Long Grove, IL; as well as his sister Phyllis Decker of Waverly, MN. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Shania and Justin of Maple Lake, Matthew of Huntington Beach, CA, Jordan of St. Louis, MO, Ethan and Haleigh of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Florence; brothers, Gene and Jerry; and sister, Katherine (Kay) Weisbrich.
Countless wonderful memories. Very blessed.
As Joe requested, no services will be held. Donations can be made to St. Jude's or Shriners International in honor of Joe.
