Joseph "Joe" Lee Fortney, 46, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, in Magna, Utah. Joe was born on September 15, 1979, in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Kellie Fortney.
On October 3, 2015, Joe married the love of his life, Brandy, in Murray, Utah. Together, they built a beautiful life surrounded by family, laughter, and love. Joe worked for Fetzer as a talented woodworker, known for his keen eye for detail and strong work ethic. His craftsmanship reflected his dedication and pride in everything he touched.
Joe was an avid Denver Broncos fan, and his loyalty to his team was unmatched. Football seasons brought out his playful rivalry with his twin brother, Mike, a die-hard Raiders fan. The two shared countless Sunday afternoons bantering, laughing, and watching games together. You could always find Joe yelling at the television, passionately cheering on the Broncos win or lose. It didn't do his blood pressure any favors, but he wouldn't have had it any other way. Joe truly bled blue and orange.
Above all, Joe was an amazing dad. His greatest joy and proudest accomplishment in life were his three beautiful daughters, Triinity, Kylee, and Ella. He adored every moment spent with them, whether playing, laughing, or simply being together. Joe made it his mission to make up for any lost time and to fill every day with love, laughter, and memories. His infectious laugh could light up any room and will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Brandy; daughters, Trinity, Kylee, and Ella; twin brother, Mike Fortney; aunt and uncle, Kathie and Ray, whom he lovingly considered his mom and dad; brothers, Scott and Ray; sister, Sharla; uncle, Ken; and many nieces and nephews who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kellie, and grandmother, Doreen, with whom he now reunites in eternal peace.
Family meant everything to Joe. Growing up alongside his twin brother and cousins, he shared an unbreakable bond built on loyalty, laughter, and unconditional love. His aunt and uncle, Kathie and Ray, raised him with compassion and strength, shaping him into the remarkable man he became.
Though Joe faced challenges in life, he turned every hardship into a lesson that deepened his character and heart. Those experiences molded him into an incredible husband, father, son, and friend. He was truly one of a kind. His humor, warmth, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Joe's identical twin brother, Mike, shared an extraordinary connection with him, a bond that words can't fully capture and that will forever remain unbroken.
He left his world far too soon, but his love, laughter, and lessons will live on through all of us who were blessed to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rose Creek Crossing Clubhouse, 13615 Pyrenees Avenue, Riverton, UT 84065.
Joe will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.
