Joseph B. Frerker, Jr., age 84, of Maryville, IL, born June 23, 1941 in East. St. Louis, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Meridan Village Memory Care in Glen Carbon, IL.
Joseph was the former owner and operator of Frerker Automotive Equipment & Supply in downtown Collinsville, IL. He loved helping others and also served as an Anderson Hospital volunteer, was a former licensed Ham radio operator, a member of the Knights of Columbus #6625 and the Mother of Perpetual Help Men's Booster Club. He celebrated 40 years of sobriety with Alcoholics Anonymous.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph B. and Wilma Z. (Privette) Frerker, Sr.; a sister, Jo Ann Roberson, and an infant sister, Judith Marie Frerker.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanie (Lapinski) Frerker, whom he married on September 11, 1965; his sister, Jean (Don) Keel of Valley Park, MO; his brother, John (Katie) Frerker of Highland, IL; his sister, Joyce (Dave) Odle of Woodlands, TX; his brother, Jerry (Linda) Frerker of Collinsville, IL; his brother-in-law, Larry (Katie) Roberson of Maryville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025 and from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, IL, with Father Rob Johnson, Celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or to Vitas Hospice and may be made at the visitation or mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
