Joseph J. Gauch, 92, of Greenville Avenue, Greenville, died Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the husband of Ann M. (Burke) Gauch. They had been married for 72 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Geiselhart) Gauch. He had lived in Johnston for over 60 years.

Joseph served in the US Army during the Korean Campaign.

Joseph was a cabinet maker by trade and worked in several historic houses on the east side of Providence for 38 years where he repaired the historic houses to their original beauty.

He was a perfectionist in everything he did from carpentry to yard work around the house, he took pride in all endeavors.

Joseph was an amazing cabinet maker and carpenter and has created furniture for all his children, which they treasure having something created by their dad.

He also loved ball room dancing with his wife and friends. They held their own dances for several years in Smithfield for all their friends to come and enjoy. He also enjoyed roller skating, skiing and snowmobiling in New Hampshire and being a snow bird in Florida for 6 months of the year.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons; Joseph Gauch of Coventry, Jeffrey Gauch of Johnston, his daughter: Deborah Tatro of Coventry, his seven grandchildren: Brenden, Justin, Colleen, Christopher, Erin, Tyler and Zachery and three great grandchildren: Tyson, Silas and Amias. He was the brother of the late Louise Dion, Frederick Gauch and Johanna Noonan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 1, 2025 at 10am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery Cranston. His visitation will be on Monday morning from 8-9:30am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Church Food Shelf, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston, RI 02919.

Joseph was a dedicated Servant and Usher at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish for many years. He was a Model for Exemplary Service for those of us who knew him. I will remember him always! My sympathy to his Wife and family! Vincent DiMonte
