Joseph Patrick Giron, 70, of
Spring City, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on February 8, 2026. He was born on July 20, 1955, in
Harrisonburg, Virginia, to the late James and Dolores Giron.
Joe proudly served his country for many years in the United States Marine Corps and the Pennsylvania and New Jersey National Guards, attaining the rank of Sergeant (E-5). He served primarily as an infantryman, with additional training and service as a combat engineer, including time in Vietnam and Japan. His military service reflected the same strength, humility, and devotion to others that carried through every chapter of his life.
Following his honorable discharge, Joe worked for more than 20 years as a bricklayer with McAvoy Brick and Glass Company. He took great pride in hard work and craftsmanship, believing strongly in earning what you have and helping others do the same.
Joe was deeply involved with Orion Communities in Phoenixville, where he dedicated himself to community outreach, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, and assisting with programs that helped people find food, housing, and stability. Having experienced homelessness himself, Joe carried a profound understanding of struggle and resilience. He often shared his story as a reminder that hardship does not define a person and that compassion can change lives. His advocacy was lived, personal, and unwavering.
To know Phoenixville was to know Joe. He knew everyone, and everyone knew him. He was endlessly generous, outgoing, and kind, always greeting people with a smile, a joke, or a helping hand. He was a familiar and beloved presence throughout the community, a light wherever he went.
Joe found joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman, a devoted scratch off ticket player and frequent winner, and a lifelong lover of coffee, often finishing nearly an entire pot before most people started their day. He lived with humor, warmth, and gratitude, and he brought those qualities into every room he entered.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Margot Giron, who shared a deep and abiding love with him and believed they were soulmates. He is also survived by his sisters Sue and Sherry and was preceded in death by his sister Mickey. Those who loved Joe find comfort in believing that Mickey was there to welcome him home. Though he had no children of his own, he loved his nephew Jason Borzumati as a son, and his niece Tara Patterson dearly. He was a proud and loving great uncle to his great-nieces and great-nephews, Mea, Brayden, Peyton, Trinity, Jared, Hannah, and McKayla, all of whom brought him great joy.
Joe was loved by so many, and he loved just as fiercely in return. His life was defined by service, generosity, resilience, and compassion. The world is better for having had him in it.
