Joseph Gregory Gleason of Willis, Texas passed away Friday, August 15, 2025, at the age of 70 after a long battle fighting illness at St. Lukes Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 10, 1954, to parents, Thomas and Joan (Thompson) Gleason.

He leaves behind his ex-wife and devoted life partner for over 30 years, Sandra Arellano; his son, Joseph Gleason and his wife, Kate Carson; stepson Jason Arellano and his wife, Sofia (Gonzalez) Arellano; and stepdaughter Mary Arellano. He also leaves behind his brothers, Brian and his wife, Anne Gleason, Kevin Gleason and Stephen and his wife, Jennifer (Klarich) Gleason. He also leaves his grandchildren, Camren Arellano, Gabriela Crofton, and Tatiana Molina and several other nieces and nephews, family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edward and Joan Ruth (Thompson) Gleason, his brothers, Thomas Aquinas and James Gleason; and his grandparents, relatives, and friends.

Joe was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated High School in 1972 in Huntington Beach, California. After high school, he attended college and flight school.

During and after his high school education, Joe traveled to many places and was blessed to have many different life experiences that gave him the wisdom to inspire and teach his children many lessons later in life.

After settling down, he went to work for U. S. Steel, Ryerson Steel, and Castle Metals. Joe loved working in the steel industry and achieved a supervisory role while in the industry. He was respected and admired among his peers at work.

His other passions included cooking, grilling, joking amongst friends and family, reading history, and playing pool. Joe was a diehard Notre Dame football fan and enjoyed spending time watching college football with his son, Joey. Joe loved flying with his stepson, Jason, and he loved telling stories from the past to his stepdaughter, Mary. Joe adored his true love, Sandra. He enjoyed traveling to Florida and the Caribbean with her and always cherished the years they spent together. Sandra never left Joe's side in the most difficult crosses he bore. His lifetime partner and love, Sandra, was at his side when God called him home.

Through Joe's life, he experienced joy with all of his family and friends as well as loss with the passing of his mother, father, and brothers. Joe was always dearly loved by his family.

Joe will always be loved, cherished, and adored by his family who meant everything to him. His absence in the lives of his loved ones leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled, until the day we all meet Joe again.

Flowers are welcome and appreciated and can be sent to McNutt Funeral Home at 1703 Porter Road, Conroe, Texas 77301 or donations can be sent in Joe's honor to the charity of your choice.

Dr. Brian, Steve, & Kevin
While the everyday of life's necessities & happenings caused those times your family & I shared in the 60s, 70s, & beyond to become few & far between, I always had a special place in my mind & heart for the Gleason family. Those times in California etched a never to be forgotten place in my memory, times that once ended, were sadly, gone forever. All of you guys, then & now, meant so much to me, but without a doubt, Joe ranked as the laughable standout of the group. Thinking back to the jokes, fun, adventures, & countless times of fun were indescribable, but now, they are gone. Life moved on for all of us, but life also has its' down side. Life caught up to & called Joe back. Joe will be missed. Another page in the book of Gleason memories has been removed. I'm so sorry for your loss of Joe. He was one of a kind. He really was....one of a kind.
