Joseph Godwin Obituary
Joseph Godwin, 87, of Alton, Illinois, passed away on December 26, 2025, at Alton Memorial Rehab.
Joseph was born on September 30, 1938, in Alton, Illinois, to William I. and Edith (Mather) Godwin. He married Kathryn V. Glassey on June 17, 1961, in East Alton, Illinois.
He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Joseph was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking. He was known for his incredible sense of humor and was always eager and willing to help family and friends. He enjoyed a long career at McDonnell Douglas, later Boeing, before retiring from Electronic Data Systems in 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Godwin; his daughter, Karen (Stuart) Sinks of Brighton, Illinois; his grandchildren, Sydney Sinks and Jack Sinks of Brighton, Illinois; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; their son, Daniel Godwin; and his siblings, Fredrick (Frances) Godwin, William I. (Fran) Godwin II, and Maryella (Paul) Bierbaum.
Private visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to 5A's.
