Joseph Hackett Obituary

Joe was born in Bronx, NY to Ann and Michael Hackett on November 7, 1965. As a teenager Joe and his family moved to East Durham, NY where he developed lifelong friendships. East Durham will always have a piece of Joe's heart. In 2001, he moved to New City, NY where he raised his children.
Joe loved his country and served in the Army National Guard. Joe was a hard worker and a proud union member. He was a longtime member of the NYC Carpenters Union Local #157. Joe also worked as an operating engineer in Local #30. He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life like watching his daughter Megan play basketball, his son Colin play baseball, a good cup of coffee, an Irish breakfast, Irish music, weekends in East Durham and his work as a carpenter.
Joe will join his father Michael Hackett in heaven.
Joe is survived by his mother Ann Hackett, his children Megan and Colin Hackett and their mother Eileen, his brother Christopher Hackett, sister Tara Byrne and sister Michele Kern and her husband Donald, his nieces and nephews Brianna, Molly, Seamas, Maureen, CJ, Leilea and Harry.
As many would often say "You're a good man Joe Hackett". May he rest in peace.
For those who can not make it down to West Nyack there will be a Memorial mass at Our lady of Knock Shire in East Durham NY on Saturday July 2 nd at 1 pm with a gathering at Nellies Restaurant to follow.
