Joseph Hadad Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chas. Verheyden, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Detroit on Oct. 21, 2025.
Joseph G. Hadad, age 66, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on October 15, 2025. He was born on September 15, 1959, in Detroit, where he grew up on the city's east side near Canfield and Dickerson.
A proud graduate of Service High School, Class of 1977, Joe later attended trade school and became a master auto mechanic. Throughout his life, he worked in a variety of roles, including security at Cobo Hall, Southfield Mall, and Hazel Park Raceway. At just sixteen years old, he began working for Famous Furniture on Jefferson near downtown Detroit - the start of a strong work ethic that carried through his life.
During his time at Cobo Hall, Joe had the unforgettable experience of working security for many rock concerts. Known for his big heart and helping hands, Joe's number one trait was always being there for family, friends, and neighbors. Children and animals were naturally drawn to him, sensing his kind and gentle spirit.
Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting with his cousins, gardening, and coin collecting. Though he didn't have much time for clubs or organizations, his devotion to family was unwavering. After losing his father at a young age, Joe took on the role of "man of the family," handling home repairs, maintenance, and caring for his mother. In her final years, he lovingly dedicated himself to her care - spending long days cooking, cleaning, and tending to her and her dog.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 30+ years, Susan and his beloved children Robert Burd and Theresa (Ron) Culbertson and their 4 children; Aiden, Brennan, Eliana, and Tiernan. He also leaves behind his dear sisters Cheryl, JoAnne, and Lanette, and their children Nikki, Frankie, Amanda, Lauren, Tony, and Adam; his cousins Philip and David; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Marlo (2002), cousin Kenny, and his parents.
Joe will be remembered for his selflessness, loyalty, and the countless ways he quietly made life better for those around him.
Joe will lie instate on Friday, October 24th from 10 am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11 am at St. Ambrose Church, 15020 Hampton St., Grosse Pointe Park.
