Joseph Duncan Halus

Joseph Duncan Halus - a father, husband, son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend, 44, of Medway, Massachusetts, passed away on May 31, 2023. Whether you knew him as Joseph, Joey, Joe, or Joe-Joe, he will be missed by everyone who loved him and whom he loved.
Joe was born on March 19, 1979 to Joanne Duncan Halus and Eugene John Halus (deceased). Since March 19th is the feast of St. Joseph, there was only one choice for his name. His name also honored his maternal grandfather, Joseph Duncan. He obtained his masters degree at SUNY Cortland and his bachelors at Slippery Rock University. His academic and professional endeavors underscored his love for nature, the outdoors, and life.
After graduating, Joe started working with organizations that connect people to the environment, their communities, and each other. Most recently, he worked at the Hockomock Area YMCA serving as the Executive Director at the Hurley Family Branch in North Attleboro, MA. He received numerous honors for his service to the community. Whether it was empowering at-risk youth, organizing food drives for families in need, or volunteering as soccer coach, Joe was there. Joe was also an avid amateur beer brewer and mountain biker.
Joe and Kristen (Peterson) married in 2013 in New Hampshire. In 2014 Addison, now eight years old, was born, and Parker, now six, followed in 2016. Their home was filled with love and happiness. Joe is also survived by his mother, Joanne, and his four siblings: Brita, Domenica (Scott Miller and Amelia Miller) Andy, and Ayla (Chris Halus-Johnson and their soon to be born child). His family mourns his loss and the joy he brought to their lives.
Calling hours will be Monday June 26, from 4PM – 7PM at the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home at 3 Barber Street, Medway, MA 02053.
A Funeral service will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Medway on Tuesday, June 27 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Addison and Parker's education funds at
