Joseph Michael Harris, 64, of Chickamauga, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025. He was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to the late Elliott and Sara Harris. Joe moved from South Carolina to the Northwest Georgia area in 1980 and worked at Pilgrim's Pride for almost thirty years. Joe was an amazing father to his daughter and dearly loved his family. He was generous and caring and was always willing to help his family and friends with anything. He was especially gifted in building and repairing almost anything. Joe enjoyed fishing and playing golf. His family's love for Joe was deep and unwavering, and he will be missed.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Elliott Pearson and Sara Benfield Harris; brothers, Butch Harris, Timothy Harris, and Greg Harris; and sister, Patricia Ziff.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Lindsey (Philip) Steigerwalt of Union, South Carolina; brother, Gettys Harris of Chickamauga, Georgia; nieces, Laura (Daniel) Bradley of Lookout Valley, Tennessee, and Jenna (Brandon) Gideon of Chickamauga, Georgia and their children; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
The family has arranged for a time to remember and honor Joe. Friends and family are invited to join us on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The memorial service, a time to celebrate Joe's life, will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 12 p.m., with Pastor Freddy Holcomb officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later time. The family appreciates your prayers and support during this difficult time.
