John "Johnny" Parson Shields Jr., age 69, of Chickamauga, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025.
Born in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, Johnny was the son of the late John Parson Shields Sr. and Agnes Evans Shields. A lifelong resident of Chickamauga, he was of the Baptist faith and cherished his community deeply.
Johnny retired in 2017 from Walter A. Woods after more than 12 years of dedicated service. Known for his warm heart and steady presence, he was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His kindness and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving children, John Parson "J.P." Shields III and Shelley Shields (Frankie) Catlett; siblings, Lynn (Mark) Westrick, Dee (David) Parrish, and Kathy (Joe) Parrish; grandchildren, Dakota (Millie) Catlett and Cheyanne Catlett; great-grandchild, Johnny Asher Catlett; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
