Mr. Joseph "Joe" Vincent Harrison of Milford, PA died Friday, August 2, 2024 at home. He was 64. He was born February 20, 1960 in Bronx, NY the son of the late Theresa McKeon Harrison and the late Joseph A. Harrison. As a boy Joe attended Holy Spirit Elementary, Bronx, NY, Catskill Middle School and Catskill Highschool, before heading to college at SUNY Cortland and eventually grad school in East Stroudsburg. Joe's school days did not stop there, he went on to teach Physical Education at Collegiate in New York, NYMA Cornwall, NY, and Minisink Valley Central School District from 1988 to 2023. During his time at Minisink Valley, he coached tennis and wrestling from 1988 to 2000. Joe married the love of his life Elisabeth Harrison in Homer, NY on May 7, 1988. A family statement read: "Joe was a loving father who would do anything for his 3 children and 3 grandchildren. He loved being a PE teacher at Minisink Valley School District for 35 years and taught for 5 other years at private schools. Just being in the gym made him happy! Joe enjoyed the sport of wrestling throughout his life. He wrestled in high school, as well as college. He then continued this passion as a wrestling coach at the schools he taught at. Joe enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking, fishing and just being in nature. One of Joe's many interests was to BBQ. He was a master at making delicious BBQ food and his family loved nothing more than to enjoy his creations. Joe loved to travel and enjoyed trips to visit his parents' birthplace of Ireland as well as many other destinations. His family will miss his stories and loving heart of gold every day. Surviving are: his loving wife Elisabeth Harrison, daughter Katarina Thornton 35, daughter Natalia Harrison 29, son Joseph Harrison 28, 3 grandchildren Liam 14, Parker 11, Brody 6, brother John Harrison and his wife Carol Clement, sister Anne Schwebke and her husband Eric, sister Mary Dwyer, brother-in-law Mark Ward and his wife Erin, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 12-2pm at the Gray Parker Funeral Home, Inc. 100 E. Main, St., Port Jervis, NY 12771. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 2pm at the funeral home. Cremation was held at MacLennan Hall Crematorium, Milford, PA.
