Joseph Dallas Hires, 85, of Melbourne, FL, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024. He was born in Jacksonville, FL, on February 21, 1939, to the late Melvin Daniel Hires and Carrie Bell Williams Hires. Dallas graduated from Charlton County High School in 1958. He was a member of the Folkston Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Melbourne, FL. He worked at White’s Garage as an International Harvester mechanic. In 2003, he retired from Harris Corporation in Melbourne, FL, after working there for 36 years. He loved Jesus and made sure to share that love with everyone he met. He was one of the first people to have a home computer and remained a computer guy into his early 80’s.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 3-nieces.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years: Barbara June Askew Hires of Melbourne, FL; daughter: Doris (Aaron) Collins of Palm Bay, FL; son: Daniel Hires of Melbourne, FL; sister: Myra Jean Blalock of Folkston, GA; 2-grandsons: Christian (Alyssa) Collins of Enfield, ME, and Joshua (Sabrina) Collins of Palm Bay, FL; 4-great-granddaughters: Olivia Grace Collins and Addison Bethe Collins, both of Enfield, ME, and Lili Uokalani Collins and Madison Rae Collins, both of Palm Bay, FL; and many beloved nieces and nephews who he loved and mentored over the years.

A graveside service will be held at Pineview Cemetery in Folkston, GA, at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
