Joseph D. Huntington

Joseph D. Huntington, 74, of New Smyrna Beach FL, formerly of Darlington WI, passed away unexpectedly on Friday October 31, 2025 at his home. He was born on October 14, 1951 to Lloyd and Vera (Knouse) Huntington.

Joe graduated from Darlington High School in 1969. He worked for Lafayette County Highway Department as Shop Foreman for many years till his retirement in 2006. Joe was a retired member of the National Guard.

Joe lived most of his life in Darlington WI, until he relocated to New Smyrna Beach FL in 2016.

He loved camping over the years and made many lifelong friends.

Joe was an avid NASCAR fan, along with WI Badgers and Green Bay Packers. In his retirement he enjoyed building recumbent bikes, golfing and spending time with his VFW friends.

Joe is survived by his sister Joan Schwartz, niece Jane (Ernie) Oberdorf, nephew Mark (Brooke) Schwartz, all of Evansville WI, niece Susan (Jeff) Imes, Tampa FL, his half sister in law, Marian Ruef, Dodgeville WI, half-nephews Irving and Lowell Ruef, half niece, Suzanne Marx, many great nieces and nephews and countless dear friends in WI and Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd & Vera Huntington, brother-in-law Dick Schwartz and half-brother Harold Ruef.

Celebration of Life with military honors will be held at the VFW 4250 in New Smyrna Beach, FL on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 1:pm.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Monday, December 29 in Darlington, Wisconsin. Monday at 11am at Union Grove Cemetery
