Joseph W. Morton, age 54, a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed away
Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Beech Grove Meadows. He was born March 9, 1970, in
Indianapolis to Joseph and Ruth (Maynard) Morton. Joe grew up in a home filled
with love and laughter. He attended Perry Meridian High School where he played
football. During his working career Joe was employed with Securitex Security &
was last assigned to Marion County Community Corrections, Duvall center for
more than 10 years, retiring in 2011 due to health challenges.

Joe was an avid Ham Radio Operator, call sign KO9JOE, active with Hendricks
County Amateur Radio Society for more than 22 years. He was a master
fisherman, spending every chance he could at his favorite fishing spots with his
son, grandson, wife and other family members and good friends. Joe took pride in
creating a special bait that had the fish eating it with every cast. He also enjoyed
boating and camping at Lieber State Recreation Park. Relaxing around the
campfire telling stories and remembering past events was always an enjoyable
time.

Joe and his wife, Anne traveled often to Virginia visiting Big Stone Gap to stay in
touch with Anne's family, taking in the beautiful surroundings and some delicious
home cooking. Joe and Anne also enjoyed several trips to Kentucky catching up
with their old friend, David.

Joe cherished the time he was able to spend with his family. He was a loving
husband, father, son and brother and a proud grandfather to his grandson Wyatt,
who called him "his Pop-Pop". Joe was a true friend opening his heart and his
home to anyone that needed a shoulder to lean on and a safe shelter to call home.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph E. Morton and brother-in-law,
Michael Sanders.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Elizabeth Anne
(Sanders) Morton; mother, Ruth K. Morton; son, Anthony; grandson, Wyatt;
brothers, Paul and Melvin Morton; nieces & nephews, Bryan, Joanne, Elizabeth,
Jeremy, Jason, Shawna, Justin and Jason; aunts, uncles; brother-in-law, Mark
Sanders; extended family members and lifelong friend, David Santee.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Stroke Research to support
treatments and cures for the effects of strokes, in Joe's memory.
