Joseph Jones Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Walter Jones, of Claymont, Delaware, formerly of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 20, 2025, at Christiana Care in Wilmington, surrounded by his son Mark and daughter-in-law Helen. He was 94 years old.

Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Lois; his two sons, Dwayne (husband Mario) and Mark (wife Helen); his grandchildren Mark Jr., Matthew, and Stephanie (husband Carlos); and his great-grandchildren Joshua and Mia.

Born in Pottstown, Joe graduated from Boothwyn High School in 1949. During the Korean War, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He went on to dedicate nearly 50 years of service to the DuPont Company, where his strong work ethic, kindness, and loyalty left a lasting mark.

Joe met the love of his life, Lois, in 1956, and they were married in 1958. Together, they shared nearly 69 wonderful years. Their happiest times were simply being together-taking camping trips with their children, enjoying family road trips, or sitting side by side in their backyard overlooking Naaman's Creek while caring for their animals.

A man of many interests, Joe found joy in walking his dog Nena, tending his garden, and cheering on the New York Mets and Philadelphia Eagles from his favorite recliner. He enjoyed golfing with friends and listening to music, but found his greatest joy at the piano, where he would spend hours playing, remixing, and recording. He also took great pride in cooking family favorites, especially his ham and cabbage and oyster stew.

Though Joe cherished many places throughout his life, his true home was always wherever Lois was. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.

Joe will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. In our hearts, we picture him at peace, surrounded once more by the loyal pets who brought him joy in life.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 501 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19809, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Joe's cremated remains will be present. The burial will be private.

In Lieu of flowers, contribution's in Joe's memory may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 501 Duncan Rd., Wilmington, DE 19809
