Joseph Kast Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Erickson and Brown Funeral Home - Taft on Jan. 4, 2026.
Joe was born on May 11, 1962, in Torrance California, and passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, in Bakersfield, California, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joe met the love of his life, Donna, when they were just kids rolling around Skate Escape. They spent the next 47 years side by side, building a life full of love and laughter. Together, they raised a beautiful family. His children and grandchildren were his world, and nothing brought him greater joy.

Joe had many hobbies and passions. He loved to cook-and if you ever saw photos of his meals, you would think the entire neighborhood was coming over to eat. He enjoyed building cars, spending days on the golf course, and taking his family camping. But when the 49ers were playing, Joe could always be found in front of the TV, loudly rooting them on-he was convinced they could hear him.

Joe was a mechanic for over 47 years, a profession he took great pride in. Known for his strong work ethic and determination, he could fix just about anything. His hands were rarely still, and his dedication to his work was admired by all who knew him.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Donna; his children, Crystal and her husband Gary, Joe, Faith, Michael, Hope, and Charity; and his grandchildren, Bailey and her husband Matt, Robert "RJ," Jenna, Kynlee, and Mattix. He is also survived by his parents, Edward and Elwanda Iskenderian; his brothers and sisters, Jerry (Shelly), Tim (Leecea), Dori (Mark), and Amy (Mike); and his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by countless friends and loved ones who he considered family.

Joe was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Kast; his grandparents, Sam and Dora Aubrey; his mother- and father-in-law, Bessie and Bill Wise; and his sister-in-law, Sherry.

Joe will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his love, loyalty, laughter, and the way he made everyone feel like family.
