Joseph Lauderback

Joseph L. Lauderback, age 80, of Culver, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Miller's Merry Manor in Culver. Born on September 29, 1944, in LaPorte, Indiana, Joe was a beloved figure in his community and a cherished father, grandfather, and friend.
Joe had a wide-ranging career, working for many years as a metal pourer at the C.O. Hiler Foundry in Walkerton, as a handyman at Larry's Quick Mart, and as the owner of Joey's Trash Service. He was also a dedicated volunteer, lending his time and energy to the Community Christian Pantry in Walkerton and the Necessary Pantry. Joe had a deep love for his community and for helping others.
A man of many interests, Joe enjoyed collecting model cars and trucks, playing euchre, and cooking. He was especially known for his world-class peanut brittle, which he lovingly shared with his neighbors and friends. His kindness, humor, and generosity will be greatly missed.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Rhonda (Jeff) McGhee; granddaughter, Abigail McGhee; brother, John (Dorothy) Lauderback; his former wife, Christine Lauderback; niece, Sherry Gross; nephews, Mike Lauderback and Johnny Lauderback; several great nieces and nephews; honorary daughter, Jacqui Calhoon; his wonderful caregiver and longtime roommate Jim Banks; and special friends, Jack and Charlie, Dick Eskridge, and Earl. He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia (Joseph) Hess; three brothers, Harold, Howard, and Little Ray Lauderback; two sisters, Rose Cole and Anna Robinson; his former mother-in-law (who he still called mom) Annabelle Osborne; and his best friend, Samuel Cecrle.
In accordance with Joe's wishes, he will be cremated, and a Memorial Service will be held at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Details regarding the service will be announced soon.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to St. Joe Hospital Renal Floor, Dr. Gena Moore, Lori, Culver Miller's Merry Manor, and Fresenius Kidney Care Nephrology Marshall County for their exceptional care and support. Joe was especially fond of his time at Miller's Merry Manor, where he enjoyed his new home and playing bingo with his buddies.
Joe's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
