Joseph Lipsky Obituary

Joseph Robert Lipsky
Joseph Robert Lipsky, Jr. passed away on December 10, 2025. Joe was born on September 11,1932 in Oak Park, Illinois to Joseph R. Lipsky and Stella G. (Trakzelis) Lipsky. He attended Bradley University (Peoria, IL) where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and the Air Force ROTC program. He graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and a commission as Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in January 1955. Joe's career was spent in the Strategic Air Command (SAC) as a navigator/bombardier/instructor. He flew in B-47's, B-52's and as a Battle Staff Intelligence Officer on KC135's on SAC's Airborne Command Post (Looking Glass). Joe did volunteer for duty to Vietnam in1971 and was assigned to Headquarters, Military Assistance Command (MACV). Joe met his wife Deloris while stationed in Puerto Rico. They were married in December1966. He retired from active duty on November 1st, 1977. after which he and Deloris traveled before settling in Texas. In the summer of 1978, they found Georgetown and decided this was the place they wanted to spend their retirement years. Joe liked to travel, golf, the movies, and the theater, especially musicals. He liked to putter around his house, tend to his yard and garden, and busy himself with do-it-yourself projects. He was volunteer in the AARP Tax-Aide program. He also was an active volunteer in the Air Force Activity Office (RAO) first, at Bergstrom AFB and then Camp Mabry, Texas assisting military retirees and their spouses. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy DuPlessis and daughter Leigh Lipsky Bond. Joe is survived by his wife Deloris, sons Joseph and Stephen, and grandchildren Ashley, Katlin and Andrew. Services are currently pending. Please check back for service details ... He was an amazing and fun loving man. I enjoyed my moments with him and have wonderful memories. He was a real stand up guy. He showed me the best of Texas. My condolences to his sweet wife Dee and his eldest son Joe, as well as the rest of the family.
