Joe Joe Joe I still fine myself in disbelief that your time here on earth was cut short.I still get emotional after you came to live with me we would stay up late night & conversate about your regrets. When you would cry & pour your heart out because your time was near. You didn't want to except what was happening but I did because I know God has the final say no matter what we may want. You were my best friend & always worried about me and I will forever remember when we took a long drive and you starting crying and told me you were scared about leaving and not being able to be my rock! I will continue to trust in God always Thank you for loving me and being one of my greatest friend...love your princess (Amazing Grace) that song has a different meaning since your passing

October 27th Happy Heavenly Birthday to one of my best friends. Day by day I'm getting through the process of losing someone so dear to my heart. Your birthday is in my phone calendar because we always texted or called each other. It's taking me some time to even view this date without crying. To tell you the truth. I'm crying typing this. My heart still hurts. We were the dynamic duo in the Pleasantville School District. You, union president and I, vice president. We were called the Mod Squad. LOL. I was the good cop n you were the bad cop. I had to calm you down and pray because you got so "passionate" "wink" about issues. You cared about everyone. But I understand that you didn't want me to know how ill you were. But know this. You were always in my prayers. Before and after your diagnosis. I will miss our phone conversations. When my son in law died. You were their to make sure I was ok. You talked for hours on the phone with me. My friend. My heart is broken but I must let you go. God called you back to him. Rest....in peace. Love, Brown Reed
Thank you Viola for taking care of my best friend. You were the answer to my prayers

At the end of the day a man is judged by what he does in this life and in a short time Joe accomplished much. I met him at North Main Street school and we quickly became friends and coworkers. Joe had a zest for life and taught me quite a bit about the ponies. Will always remember the dinners and good times we had. A dedicated teacher and a great friend, he will be sorely missed.

I cannot say I knew Joe well, unfortunately. I knew of him more than I knew the man. I knew his tireless work for our union. I knew that if I had an issue he work work to make sure that issue was resolved. As I think with many of us, we took for granted that Joe would be there always for our benefit. Saying that Joe will be missed is a terrible understatement. Good bless his life and his care of his fellow man.

Joe was an absolute rock. He made sure that every single person was represented and represented well. He cared deeply for his students and the entire Pleasantville community. We are a better place for the work that Joe did. May we all honor his work by continuing his dedication. My deepest condolences to his family.

Dear Manetta family, I had the pleasure of working with Joe for 7 years as his Social Studies partner teacher. He had a wonderful way of relating to his students. Our joint planning meetings were as educational as they entertaining. His devotion to our community was outstanding. No matter the situation from moving students through the hallways to coaching baseball he was our gentle giant. His larger than life personality will always live on with his students and friends. My prayers are with you and your family during these difficult times. Til we meet again Godspeed Joe! Thank you!

Dear Manetta Family,
I am extending my deepest condolences to you during this time of grief. Joe was so much more than an educator. He deeply cared about our district and those in it. Above all, he was a friend to so many of us. May you find comfort in knowing that Joe made a positive impact on so many people. Fond memories of him will forever be cherished.

Sorrowfully submitted,
Sylvia Stephens
