Joseph L Martone, 79, of Ayer, MA, formerly of Littleton and Acton, MA, was reunited with his beloved wife on April 16, 2024. He was the devoted husband of the late Judith (Pierson) Martone for 55 years before her passing on November 23, 2022.
Joe was born in Fall River, MA, on July 17, 1944. He was the son of the late Joseph and Clara (Calitri) Martone. Growing up in Barrington, RI, Joe had a close-knit family that instilled in him the values of love, compassion, and hard work. Joe graduated from Barrington High School in 1962 and received his BA in Economics from Providence College in 1966. Upon graduating he enlisted in the Army National Guard and served with the 115 Military Police Company of Rhode Island. He was released from active duty in December 1969.
Throughout his life, Joe cherished his family above all else and we are grateful that he was surrounded by his loved ones in his final days on earth. Joe met Judie, the love of his life, while spending summer weekends in Falmouth, MA. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three children, Joseph Martone, of Ayer, MA, Jennifer (Martone) Sundberg, of Littleton, MA and Jason Martone of Stratham, NH.
Joe had a successful career as a computer sales executive. He earned the respect of his clients with his exceptional work ethic, honesty and straightforward approach, which led to numerous accolades and recognition. His achievements and hard work were rewarded with numerous opportunities to travel the globe. Upon retiring, Joe continued to enjoy traveling. He and Judie purchased an RV and explored the country with their dogs, visiting family, friends and national parks.
One of Joe’s greatest passions was music. He had a beautiful singing voice and was often found strumming his guitar. In addition to music, Joe also enjoyed movies, golf, and family beach vacations. Some of his happiest times were spent surrounded by his children and grandchildren with Judie always by his side.
In addition to his children, Joe is survived by his sister Claire Amaral (Robert), of Barrington, RI, his daughter-in-law, Ali Martone and his 9 grandchildren, Nick, Ryan, and Brady Martone, Derek, Jaime, and Jordan Sundberg, Julia, Mark and Emily Martone. He is also survived by his niece and nephews and his many extended family and friends.
