J. Brian McGaugh, 46 of Marianna, Florida, died Saturday, August 23, 2025, at his residence.
He was born to Richard and Brenda McGaugh on November 26, 1978, in Leland, MS. With a six-year age difference, his sister was thrilled to have a baby brother join the family. With his impish grin, big eyes, and blonde curly locks, he won everybody’s heart.
As a child, he loved Hot Wheels, He-Man & superheroes. He loved running around with his towel cape flying in the wind behind him, just like a superhero. He had a great curiosity for nature, the moon and stars, and always had a question ready for his mom.
At a young age, he developed a love for building things; it was no wonder his career choice was in the construction field. Over the years, he was trained by several outstanding tradesmen who remained his mentors and friends until his passing. He loved what he did and was proud of the work he and his crew accomplished.
Brian loved his family. No matter the distance, he always stayed in touch. His children were his pride and joy and the greatest loves of his life. Brian cherished his parents, siblings, and loved the mother of his children, Jackie and Sarah. His sister was his best friend and nemesis growing up. Brian truly loved all music, including heavy metal, which was greatly influenced by his big sister. He is and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gypsy McGaugh and Bernice Lott, as well as his maternal grandparents, Elbert C. Milan and Annie Estella Sisson.
Brian is survived by his children, Gabriel Draven McGaugh and Daphne Rose McGaugh; parents, Richard L McGaugh (Becky) and Brenda J. Milan McGaugh; sister, Connie L. Presson; step-brother, Roger McGaugh; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Friday, August 29, 2025 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
