Joseph W. Mecha, age 66, of Maribel passed away Friday, February 6, 2026 at Magnolia Meadows, Manitowoc.

Joe was born June 26, 1959 in Fort Sill, OK, son of John Mecha and the late Shirley (Koene) Mecha. He graduated from Mishicot High School with the Class of 1977 as an honor student. He then attended Lakeshore Technical Institute and studied computer classes, including programming.

Joe's work experience included being a licensed semitruck driver (CDL), Weber Co., computer programer and a racetrack timer (141 Speedway). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, computers and racing.

Survivors include his son Daniel (Kate) Mecha, his grandchildren Hailey and Landon Mecha, his father John Mecha, brothers William and Edward (Liana) Mecha, aunt-in-law Denise Mecha, mother of his son Cynthia Cobb, nephew Chris Becker and nieces Justine and Jessica Mecha. He was preceded in death by his Mother Shirley Mecha, grandparents Harry and Mary Koene, grandparents William and Edith Gilbert, aunt Marie (George) Emme, and uncle Leon Mecha.

The family extends their Special thanks Aurora Home Hospice team and to jojo's care takers at magnolia meadows Jenah, Sam and Kyla for their compassion and care.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Friday, February 13, 2026 at St. James Catholic Church, Cooperstown. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Brian Belongia.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 12 noon.
