Joseph Moll Obituary

Published by Smart Cremation Texas on Oct. 12, 2021.
Joseph Thomas Moll. Son. Brother. Veteran. Husband. Father. Friend. These are just a few of the many titles and roles that our dad served so well. Joseph's story began in Detroit, Michigan on August 3, 1936; 2nd child to Helen and Joseph George Moll. Joseph took to work at General Motors at the ripe age of 16. Working steadfast and well, he developed his skills in the printing department and eventually went on to an illustrious 40 year career. During this time, he enlisted in the Navy Reserve; then shortly after joined the U.S. Army and became a paratrooper. After proudly completing his enlisted service in 1958, he came home going back to work at General Motors. It was a short time later he met and married the love of his life Rosemary Kathleen Kohler. They married September 3, 1960 and went on to have three beautiful children; Deanna Marie, Joseph Alexander, and Erik Matthew; each contributing to life and pursuit of their dreams. Joseph was a spirited father and husband as he always wanted the best for his family; providing all he had in wisdom, finance, and love during his lifetime. Our dad was an avid reader of history. Without hesitation he would share stories and recite much of US history along with educating us on world events and politics. He could engage anyone in his knowledge. He loved learning directly about historical eras from those who lived thru them during his travels abroad. In his retirement, Joseph set the tone for the family and moved to Las Vegas, NV in March 1994 to enjoy the beautiful weather. This allowed him year round bicycling; a sport he picked up in his late 40's. This passion, combined with his longing to travel continued up until his 80's. Over the course of 30 years, he would log over 40,000 miles on his bicycle(s). He traveled throughout the U.S.A., Great Britain, and many other European countries on his bicycle making friends and living his dream. He also loved cruising the seas on major ships visiting Australia, New Zealand, and Europe in areas unseen by bicycle. Our Dad never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to point it out to those around him. His motto of "Do It Before You Can't" was shared with all, and he lived these words proudly. Most of the family followed to Las Vegas during his lifetime and shared in his love for the city. He was welcomed into God's kingdom and greeted so lovingly by family members along his journey over the last 8 decades. He is survived by his daughter Deanna Marie Moll and son Erik Matthew Moll. We will all miss your smile, laughter, and those unique phrases and gestures that only our dad could provide. . 'YOUR SPIRIT - A TRIBUTE TO MY FATHER' By Tram-Tiara T. Von Reichenbach I know that no matter what You will always be with me. When life separates us I'll know it is only your soul Saying goodbye to your body But your spirit will be with me always. When I see a bird chirping on a nearby branch I will know it is you singing to me. When a butterfly brushes gently by me so care freely I will know it is you assuring me you are free from pain. When the gentle fragrance of a flower catches my attention I will know it is you reminding me To appreciate the simple things in life. When the sun shining through my window awakens me I will feel the warmth of your love. When I hear the rain pitter patter against my window sill I will hear your words of wisdom And will remember what you taught me so well That without rain trees cannot grow Without rain flowers cannot bloom Without life's challenges I cannot grow strong. When I look out to the sea I will think of your endless love for your family. When I think of mountains, their majesty and magnificence I will think of your courage for your country. No matter where I am Your spirit will be beside me For I know that no matter what You will always be with me.

I had the privilege of getting to know Mr. Moll and his wonderful family having worked to arrange their travels. Mr. Moll is a great friend and he always had a smile on his face which was even evident when speaking on the phone. He was always ready for adventure and commonly liked to plan the next adventure as soon as he wrapped one up. He and my father were born in the same week in 1936 and knowing that I treasured the times we got to speak and catch-up on how he and his adult kids were doing. He was a very proud father and often mentioned Erik, Joe, and Deanna. He was a true gentleman and I will miss his jovial laughter and spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with Erik and Deanna and all of Mr. Moll's family and friends.
