Joseph Ronald Molnar

Joseph Ronald Molnar, beloved husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and devoted friend to many, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025. He resided in Washington, NC with his wife of 66 years, Marilyn Molnar (Anderson).

He was born in Perth Amboy, NJ to Joseph and Anna Molnar on August 20, 1938. After attending college at Rutgers he married his wife Marilyn, joined the Air Force, and moved to California.

After his time in the service, he worked for IBM, MAI, Sorbus, and ultimately Verizon. He had a long and successful career in third-party computer maintenance.

He married his soulmate Marilyn on June 6, 1958. Along with his wife he is survived by a daughter Susan Coughlin and husband James, and their two daughters Casey and Nina Coughlin. He will also be remembered by two cousins: Joseph Ur, and Gloria Currie. He met many lifelong friends that he cherished.

Joseph lived a full life, rife with hobbies and passions. He felt at home on the water, and after retirement each winter, he and Marilyn would meander down the intercoastal waterway and settle down in the Florida Keys. His winters found him up on the slopes, carving lines into fresh powder journeying down the mountainside on his skis. He also spent much time in Europe for both work and personal reasons, but his favorite destination was upstate New York, at his home on Cranberry Lake. It is here where he spent time boating, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

He embodied many values, including a love of his family -especially his wife. He was a loyal and faithful friend and loved adventure. He had a strong work ethic that extended beyond the workplace and into his hobbies and every home improvement project.

He loved the communities he was part of, in both Pamlico Plantation and in Cranberry Lake, NY.

Joseph will be cherished and forever missed by all those he encountered.
